Regional EPA Brownfield Grant

Regional EPA Brownfield Assessment Coalition Grant

U.S. Environmental Protection Agency awarded the Lansing Regional Brownfields Coalition a $600,000 Brownfields Assessment Coalition Grant in June 2019. The grant is intended to stimulate brownfield revitalization through environmental assessments, cleanup and redevelopment plans across the tri-county area: Clinton, Eaton and Ingham counties.

There are more than 2,800 vacant, under-utilized and contaminated brownfield sites in the tri-county region.

In 2015, the Lansing Regional Brownfields Coalition earned a similar grant, leading to 40 assessments and well over $150,000,000 in project investment.

Property owners and developers can apply through a project intake form for hazardous substance and/or petroleum based Phase I and Phase II environmental assessments, Due Care Plans, Baseline Environmental Assessments and more. The grant window is from October 1, 2019 to September 30, 2022 and project intake requests are reviewed on a first come, first serve basis for potential approval.
