Rachel began her career at LEAP in September 2019 as an Economic Development Specialist with the Business Development Team. In her current role, she facilitates placemaking and development projects within the City of Lansing. She is passionate about community-centered economic development as a way to positively impact Lansing residents and businesses.
Prior to joining LEAP, Rachel coordinated Michigan-focused economic development and planning research at the Michigan State University Center for Community and Economic Development. She brings policy and outreach experience from the Wayne County Treasurer’s Office and the Michigan Environmental Council. She also worked with the City of Detroit’s Planning & Development Department to create a public land use strategy for Detroit’s Islandview Neighborhood.
Rachel holds degrees in Urban & Regional Planning and Community Governance & Advocacy from Michigan State University. She is a graduate of the Social Science Scholars Program, a member of Phi Beta Kappa, and a US Foreign Language & Area Studies Fellow.
