Posted: February 11, 2013 - 9:20 AM

POTTERVILLE, MI – Two weeks ago, a new company announced plans to bring its plant and jobs to the Lansing area – Magna (Norplas). Now LEAP announces another new manufacturer coming to Lansing area, Profile Metal Forming. A tier two automotive stamping and welding assembly company, Profile Metal Forming has opened a location in Potterville recently. The company began operations in 1986 in Newmarket, New Hampshire and in 1996, the company expanded to McKenzie, TN. In 2012, the company began its search for a greater Lansing facility to be near the Michigan automotive industry.

“We believe this region is on its way back,” said Profile Metal Forming President and CEO, George Donovan. “We wouldn’t be in Michigan if we weren’t going to be here for the long term. We are excited to be connected into the Lansing region’s growing automotive manufacturing sector and talent base.”

Profile Metal Forming plans to create 25 new jobs over the next 2 years as well as investing $5 million in the local economy. The City of Potterville approved a 12 year, 50% property tax abatement on new equipment and improvements to the building. Since locating in Potterville, Profile Metal Forming has placed purchase orders with Michigan firms totally $1.7 million in tooling.

Profile Metal Forming came to LEAP’s attention through a site search. The company, through LEAP’s site search connected with CB Richard Ellis, who then found Profile’s new home.

"The city of Potterville is moving forward and Profile Metal Forming is only going to accelerate the process,” said City of Potterville Mayor, Jeff Bussard.

“LEAP is pleased to welcome Profile Metal Forming to the Lansing area and Michigan. This very nice project again points out the continued resurgence of our automotive cluster, but LEAP also continues to emphasize our work with business startups,” said Bob Trezise, President & CEO of LEAP.
