About Clarisa

What is your business/idea?

We are a business that is looking to empower women to love themselves through fashion. We also want to create a way to make online shopping easier for clients and open the market of fashion up in ways not seen before.

What inspired you to start a business?

I’ve wanted to be a fashion designer since I was in the 5th grade. Growing up in a single parent household we often struggled for basic nessecities. I was often bullied because I didn’t wear what everyone else did and looked different from everyone else because I was mixed race. I decided I wanted to create a place that everyone knew they were beautiful and to celebrate our uniqueness.

How did you get to the point you are today with this business/idea?

I started this business in 2014 as a blog eventually because of the way Michigan is set up I turned it into a online store in 2016. Most people wanted to know what I was selling and information at that point wasn’t tangible enough. So I’ve worked and struggled with creating websites, getting a full understanding of social media, taking out personal loans against my own retirement plan and other personal loans to keep us going through the pandemic. It’s been tough but I know we are close to a break through.

What is your vision for the future of your business?

Long term we are looking to change as many lives as possible by empowering women. We have high hopes to be able to change the current state of the fashion industry by making getting a job in the industry in smaller cities and towns more accessible. We believe anywhere can be the next fashion capital.

What goals do you hope the One and All program will help you achieve?

I am hoping to get help to patent an app idea as well as help with getting some internal structures fixed to help us continue to grow and profitable so we can get more investors on board or be able to raise the capital ourselves.

Is there anything else you would like to share about yourself or your business?

I am a mother of 2, I have a 2 year old and a 7 month old. I recently just finished my degree in business administration and am currently studying for my masters in business. I am not afraid of hard work. When my great grandfather came from Mexico he wasn’t either. My goal is to show my family that with continued hard work and dedication anyone can have the American dream.
