12 Mar LEAP Continues Commitment to Diversity, Equity and Inclusion
Annual Diversity & Equity Statement Signed & 2019 Regional Diversity Star Award Presented
With an eye toward highlighting exemplary diversity, equity and inclusion business practices, the Lansing Economic Area Partnership (LEAP) presented its fifth annual Regional Diversity Star Award to CASE Credit Union during its Feb. 11, 2020, board of director’s meeting at Dean Transportation Center in Lansing, Michigan.
LEAP’s Regional Diversity Star Award is presented annually to a LEAP member business demonstrating commitment and taking action to create a diverse and welcoming workplace culture where top talent wants to work and succeed. Past awardees include:
- AF Group (2015)
- Sparrow Hospital (2016)
- Foster Swift (2017)
- MSUFCU (2018)
CASE Credit Union is LEAP’s 2019 Regional Diversity Star awardee. CASE was selected based on a history of demonstrating diverse and inclusive hiring practices and services including:
- Recruiting and supporting a diverse employee group that represents the community CASE is dedicated to serving, 43 percent of which is nonwhite and 66.7 percent female.
- Commitment to a broadly defined diversity and inclusion statement focused on providing a safe, healthy, harassment free environment for all employees and members; and annual diversity and inclusion training for all employees.
- Fulfilling their mission as a Community Development Credit Union (CDCU), which is focused on serving and increasing the financial success of clients who may be struggling with imperfect, limited or no credit history, so they are able to acquire fairly priced loans.
- Providing financial education counseling and other debt reduction and management services to members.

In addition to presenting the 2019 regional diversity star award, the LEAP board of directors signed its annual diversity and equity statement, which serves as a symbol of LEAP’s commitment to providing economic development services and programs that contribute to a diverse, inclusive and welcoming Lansing region.
