What is your business/idea?
Making utilities affordable for residents in order to prevent costly arrears and shutoffs.
What inspired you to start a business?
I read an article in Planet Detroit that talked about other states that had instituted this program of making utilities affordable.
How did you get to the point you are today with this business/idea?
I researched the utility programs in these eight states and determined that the Lansing area could benefit from an affordable utilities program.
What is your vision for the future of your business?
My vision is that all vulnerable residents in the greater Lansing area will have the ability to manage their their electric, heat and water bills and will not go into arrears and shutoffs.
What goals do you hope the One and All program will help you achieve?
To help me to market, fundraise, access grant funding, launch One & All, and to assist me in a sustainability plan for the future. of the nonprofit.
Is there anything else you would like to share about yourself?
I ran successfully for public office at the local level in order to serve families and individuals that have no voice in the political process. Throughout my political and nonprofit career, I have advocated for health care for all, eradicating homelessness and creating affordable housing, economic development, women’s rights, sustainable wages, an end to systemic racism, and many other issues.
