About Najeema

What is your business/idea?

YouShine Events & Consulting is a dual purpose event planning and social media consulting business. The primary focus of the event planning portion is pop up market curation. I have had the opportunity to function as the event coordinator for projects like the Block Market. The Block Market provided vending space for Lansing ethnic based small businesses. The social media consulting part of my business helps small business entrepreneurs connect and create content for various social media platforms. My motto is “I don’t do, I teach.” I take the many lessons from growing my own personal wearable art business, Curlitude LLC, and teach small business owners key principles on engaging with customers on social media, as well as how-to pop up at vendor markets and spaces.

What inspired you to start a business?

After attending a social media class years ago, the teacher told me that I know things far greater than she does. There are many small businesses who simply need help, they can not afford to pay for major branding work, however they are willing to put in the work to make their brand sparkle. I want to help other small businesses tell their unique story through social media. I have had the opportunity to work behind the scenes with small businesses like Natures 92 LC, Dancing with the Nordes, and many more. It is time that I am intentional in building my own brand.

How did you get to the point you are today with this business/idea?

I am self professed people connector and collector. I love to engage with people from diverse backgrounds, which allows me to use my network as capital and get small businesses connected to the resources that they need to shine.

What is your vision for the future of your business?

In the future I hope to continue creating/curating unique pop up experience in Michigan and beyond. I would like to continue to see my current clients and future clients grow as entrepreneurs.

What goals do you hope the One and All program will help you achieve?

While I have begun to gain a client list and currently create market spaces for entrepreneurs to sell, I hope to gain a better understanding of budgeting and marketing.
