The Runway Partners to Launch the Road 2 Retail Program

LANSING, Mich. – It was announced today that the Michigan Garment Industry Council (MGIC), which operates out of The Runway fashion and design incubator in downtown Lansing launched the Road 2 Retail program on Friday, June 3, for Michigan-based designers.

The Road 2 Retail program is a 12-week, curriculum-based program designed to provide Michigan-based apparel designers with the resources to expand their existing fashion business by way of increased distribution, manufacturing and promoting product awareness. Throughout the course of the program, designers will be required to attend and complete a mandatory core curriculum of workshops and seminars focused on business development and garment production. Courses will be delivered on-site at The Runway in Lansing, and the designers will have access and exposure to state of the art resources at the facility to help bolster the overall brand experience.

“The Runway has been supporting MGIC in the development of this program. We are so excited to host the first designer cohort and are proud to partner with MGIC on this program,” said Joe Carr, Startup Innovation Manager for LEAP.

“Through many partnerships, The Runway is now operating as a resource center for designers to utilize at any stage of their development. The Road 2 Retail program is another great resource we can offer The Runway’s designers in residence and associate designers as well as many other designers from around the State of Michigan,” said Bob Trezise, President and CEO of LEAP.
