Kris Klein is an Economic Development Specialist in the Business Development Division at LEAP, and is focused on helping businesses invest and grow in Lansing. Prior to LEAP, he held the position of Outreach & Operations Coordinator at South Lansing Community Development Association (SLCDA), engaging directly with community stakeholders and managing community-driven grant programs and events.
Kris brings his experience in community development to encourage economic development that is inclusive and beneficial to businesses and the community.
In his role at LEAP, Kris assists with the management of the City of Lansing’s brownfield redevelopment program and Economic Development Corporation (EDC), as well as a variety of other programs and resources. Kris enjoys the challenge of helping businesses achieve their goals and promoting redevelopment of properties throughout the City.
A proud resident of the City of Lansing, Kris has had the pleasure to serve as a board member of his neighborhood association for several years, most recently as its board president. Kris is a Certified Tourism Ambassador (CTA), member of the Michigan Economic Development Association (MEDA) and is currently pursuing Economic Development Finance Professional (EDFP) certification.
Kris received his bachelor’s degree in public administration from Saginaw Valley State University and is an active member of the SVSU Alumni Association’s Lansing Chapter. He is invested in his community and believes in the continued growth of the Lansing region.
