Carrie’s Kid-Friendly Recommendations

Carrie’s Kid-Friendly Recommendations

LEAP is thrilled to feature Carrie Rosingana and her kid-friendly recommendations in the tri-county region! With her superpowers in workforce development, Carrie knows how to turn any day into a fun adventure for families. From hidden gems to parks, she knows how to create unforgettable memories.

Carrie Rosingana is the Chief Executive Officer for Capital Area Michigan Works! that serves the tri-county Capital region of Clinton, Eaton and Ingham Counties. When not working, she spends her time with her husband and daughter. Here are her kid-friendly recommendations in the Lansing region:

Schuler Books in Okemos is one of my all time favorite places for a date with my nine year old daughter.  We’ve easily spent hours there browsing new book titles, curled up in one of their comfortable spots to tuck into new book that we can’t wait to get home to start to read and enjoyed a delicious snack and drink from their Chapbook Cafe.
I love the creativity that can be unleashed at Playing Picasso in Frandor. There are always new pottery pieces to choose from, all the tools needed to create your pottery work of art, and a rainbow of paint colors and textures to choose from.  Plus, it’s an amazing way to disconnect from technology and have time to enjoy conversation with my favorite little human who is so much more artistic than I am!
Before I was a workforce development professional, I started my educational pathway at Michigan State University as a music major and Marshall Music has always been a place in Lansing that brings me joy. Luckily for me, my daughter has enjoyed visiting it with me from the time she was little and continues to as she gets older. You can always hear different musicians trying out new songs and instruments, look at new sheet music and books, and kiddos have the opportunity to be exposed to so many different musical opportunities all in one stores. Plus, they offer lessons for the beginning, intermediate and advanced musician. It’s one of my happy places in the region no matter when I visit.

Burchfield Park in Holt is one of my favorite parks to visit with my daughter and husband. We can take our kayaks down the river, ride our bikes through their mountain bike trails and play a game of disk golf all in one park spring through summer. And when winter hits (my favorite season in Michigan!) you can sled and cross country ski. It’s an amazing asset and resource for our region.
