LEAP Code of Conduct

Last modified: February 20, 2025

Lansing Economic Area Partnership (LEAP) – Small Business Code of Conduct

As a valued Small Business and Innovation Client at LEAP, we outline the following standards to foster a respectful and productive working relationship. Participants in LEAP programs and those who engage with our support are expected to complete all the requirements outlined in program expectations as well as those provided in this document.

Services and Sources of Funding

  • LEAP services are typically free, funded by Local, State, and Federal Governments, along with other Private Corporations and Organizations in our region. Any exceptions to this will be specified. By engaging with LEAP, you agree to participate in surveys for at least 5 years of post-engagement with LEAP. Failure to comply with surveys will result in loss of support and, if applicable, repayment of funds to LEAP.
  • The data you provide to LEAP via surveys, intake forms, and other information shared with LEAP is subject to the LEAP Privacy Policy.
  • LEAP also has the irrevocable, worldwide, royalty-free right and permission to record, photograph, film, and otherwise capture a Client’s image, likeness, voice, and statements (collectively, “Media”) in any format as a participant in our programs and use this media for LEAPs own purposes.

Conduct Guidelines

  • Be Inclusive: Embrace diversity across all identities and backgrounds.
  • Be Empowered: Take ownership of your business growth. LEAP provides support through education, connections, and occasional micro-grants. Feedback is offered constructively with your company’s best intent.
  • Be Considerate: Recognize the impact of your decisions on others, yourself, and LEAP.
  • Be Respectful: Maintain professionalism and avoid personal attacks, harassment, or exclusionary behavior against others and members of LEAP staff.

Resolving Differences

  • Respect others’ perspectives, resolve disagreements constructively, and transform differences into opportunities for growth. Be solutions oriented.

Effective Communication

  • Maintain mutual respect and professionalism in all communications (call, text, email, etc.).
  • Mutual understanding is that inquiries should have a response within 7 business days. LEAP’s business hours are 8:00 AM–5:00 PM, Monday to Friday.
  • You may receive communications from our staff outside of those hours, but this should not be expected, and calls will not be picked up after hours.

Termination of Services

  • Either party may terminate the relationship with written notice, ensuring outstanding obligations are fulfilled. Failure to complete tasks assigned for programs and mutually agreed to expectations will result in termination of services.

By engaging with LEAP, you agree to adhere to this Code of Conduct, ensuring a productive and respectful partnership. Thank you for your cooperation.
