Public Art for Communities (PAFC) was proudly initiated and managed by the Lansing Economic Area Partnership (LEAP) in 2012. Public art is a uniquely created piece of physical artwork, such as a sculpture, statue, mural or bike rack that will permanently endure the site, activities and weather. It must not be political or obscene in nature. Over the years, this program played a significant role in shaping the artistic landscape of the Lansing Region. In 2015, LEAP joined forces with the PNC Foundation, a strong advocate of regional placemaking. The PNC Foundation’s annual $10,000 contribution played a pivotal role in expanding the program and the number of art pieces funded each year. With an investment of $300,000, PAFC strategically placed over 47 public art pieces across Clinton, Eaton, and Ingham counties. These projects ranged from murals to sculptures, each contributing to the cultural richness of our community.
