About Joanna
My name is Joanna and I have been a resident of the Lansing area for most of my life. While working on my degree from the University of Michigan, and the few years after working in nonprofits, I was gaining experience in restaurants as a cook. Now, I have almost a decade of know-how from commercial kitchens under my belt. I’ve had the opportunity to make food from multiple cuisines, including sushi, empanadas, pizzas, pastas, just to name a few.
What inspired you to start a business?
A few years ago, I got the veggie boxes from Allen Neighborhood Center for a couple of seasons. Seeing the variety and quality of the produce, I was always so pumped to start eating it right away. However, I always ran into the problem of not being able to consistently make time to cook it all. Since I have the experience of a cook, I know the efficiency increase in making food in bigger batches. I was inspired to start this business to make choosing local, and other thoughtfully chosen ingredients, even easier.
What is your vision for the future of your business?
A full fledged ready-to-eat meal service, to make relying on locally grown food and other ethically sourced products the norm. This would include food from a variety of cuisines, so more people would see how local products can fit into what they already eat. I also want to offer catering, and desserts, to show that local food can be fun too!
