Melissa Terry, a Lansing, Michigan native, is a licensed cosmetologist and the proud owner and founder of Lotus Beauty Lounge, which she established in 2018. Situated in the heart of Meridian Mall in Okemos, Michigan, Lotus Beauty Lounge offers a diverse array of salon and spa services tailored for individuals of all ages and genders. With Melissa’s expertise and dedication, Lotus Beauty Lounge is committed to providing exceptional care and enhancing the beauty and confidence of its clients while creating employment within the community.
What inspired you to start a business?
My journey began in childhood, I was delighted in styling my dolls’ hair, eagerly showcasing my creations to anyone willing to admire. As a teenager, I further honed my skills by treating friends to complimentary haircuts and stylish makeovers simply for the joy it brought her.
I was inspired to start a business during trade school after an experience in class gave me the desire to create an inclusive space for all people to receive quality beauty services.
What is your vision for the future of your business?
Looking ahead, our vision for the future entails establishing a standalone brick-and-mortar establishment. This expansion would afford us the opportunity to create distinct spaces dedicated to cosmetology, aesthetics, and relaxation, thereby enhancing the overall experience for our clientele.
