Description: A joint venture between Glanbia Nutrionals, Dairy Farmers of America Inc. and Select Milk Producers Inc operates a cheese and whey plant in St. Johns. This $555 million investment included building a 375,000 square foot facility and created 260 new jobs. The facility processes more than 8-million pounds of milk per day. Additionally, Proliant Dairy Ingredients is investing $85 million in an adjoining facility, which will use byproduct from Spartan Michigan processes to manufacture whey permeate products and employ 38 new workers.
Description: MMPA – established in 1916 – is a milk marketing cooperative and processor owned by dairy farmers in Michigan, Indiana, Ohio and Wisconsin.The Ovid milk processing plant supplies products for cheese, butter and yogurt production, dry milk powders for infant formulas and cocoa mixes, custom blended skim milk and fluid cream for regional food processors and bakeries.
