Richard’s Top Four Must-Sees for New Lansing Residents
Richard Explores His Top Four Must-See Spots for New Lansing Residents
Hey Everyone! Richard Enty here, one of the newest additions to the LEAP team. As someone new to the Lansing region, I’m an avid adventurer and enthusiastic fisherman always on the lookout for exciting places to explore. I’ve discovered some fantastic spots that every newcomer should check out.
So, put on your walking shoes and grab some water because it’s time for the next adventure!
This is a great place for a date night, grocery shopping, or just casually walking around to explore new ways to buy in bulk. Horrocks is truly a not-so-hidden gem in the Mid-Michigan region, where shoppers can browse their selection of fresh produce, coffee, oil & vinegar, fresh bread, and many more sections. It’s truly hard to put into words the variety and depth that is available in this market, serving Lansing for over 60 years! Truly a place to see and enjoy.
If you love to be outdoors, Crego Park should be high on the to-do list. Featuring a large lake accessible to residents for swimming, fishing, paddleboarding, and kayaking. This 200-acre park also offers a connection to the Lansing River Trail, where anyone can walk/hike/bike their way through the Lansing Region to some other amazing parks and recreation areas.
Located on the Lansing riverfront in Downtown is the 11,000-sqft space that features seven different restaurants that can be a great stop during lunch or an after-work hangout. With a full-service bar inside, the location boasts elevated local street food, a stage for feature events, and yes – shuffleboard! The outdoor shuffleboard courts were just opened recently and are a main feature of the space.
Although I have not yet explored the entirety of the 20-mile paved trail, it is truly a one-of-a-kind attraction that connects key areas of the region. Some of the major stops on the River Trail include the Adado Riverfront Park, Crego Park, Hawk Island Park, Downtown Lansing, Old Town, Potter Park Zoo, and a handful of other attractions in the region. These areas could be ranked among their own list of places to visit, but this trail takes a little bit more time to navigate all the fun, exciting, historic and outdoor activities. And yes – it’s all here in the Lansing region!
