Gadi Photo Opens at The Runway

Fashion and product photography startup to be housed at The Runway in Lansing

LANSING, MI – The Runway is pleased to announce that Gadi Photo, has signed on as the newest company to join The Runway. The local startup will provide fashion and product photography and graphic design expertise to entrepreneurs, startups and the public at Michigan’s premiere fashion incubator in downtown Lansing, Mich.

“Gadi Photo will add new depth to the services we provide to entrepreneurs and startups at The Runway,” said Joe Carr, Startup Innovation manager at the Lansing Economic Area Partnership (LEAP). “We hope to assist his company in more fully developing the foundational skills necessary to be successful while also connecting him to both mentors and prospective clients.”

Founded less than a year ago, Gadi Photo specializes in fashion and product photography as well as graphic design. Founder, Siso Dhladhla, came to The Runway a year ago to attend a workshop during Lansing Maker Week. The workshop was called “Cut & Sew Workshop: Make Your Own Backpack.” After the workshop, he became more interested and active in the fashion and art community through working on his photography and design and cut and sew skills.

Having always loved to draw, his passion for visual arts led him to earn a degree in graphic design with the goal of designing his own t-shirts. While in college, he also discovered his talent for photography.

“While in college I took a photo class and I was enthralled! I audited my photography class, after graduating, to have more time with the camera,” said Dhladhla. “After that, for three years I worked at Impression 5 Science Center as a graphic designer, and during my last year of work, I met Joe Carr. Since then, he has continued introducing me to beneficial opportunities.”

Dhladhla is currently piloting services with Runway designers. He hopes to break the mold of standard photography companies by offering physical product in addition to a suite of services. He also wants to use his passion for clothing design and photography to encourage youth who are interested in the arts.

“When I was first introduced to The Runway, I immediately wanted to be a part of what was going on. Partnering with The Runway allows me a place to actualize the creative ideas that come to my mind. Not only is it an ideal workspace for me, The Runway attracts the type of people I like meeting,” said Dhladhla.

Gadi Photo has plans to open to the public in early January 2017. You can find more information about Gadi Photo on Facebook.
