Michigan Farm Bureau Family of Companies to Modernize and Expand in Lansing Region with Help from LEAP and MEDC

Regional Partnerships Support Company’s Current and Future Talent Needs

LANSING, Mich. – Innovation continues to be the theme for a Michigan insurance leader, the Michigan Farm Bureau Family of Companies. Tuesday brought the official announcement and celebration of substantial hiring and renovation plans the company is pursuing in partnership with the Michigan Economic Development Corporation (MEDC) and the Lansing Economic Area Partnership (LEAP).

The investment into talent doesn’t stop there, however. Farm Bureau is also participating in the Michigan New Jobs Training Program through Lansing Community College’s (LCC) Business Community Institute for new technology training. A $6,800,000 upgrade to the existing facility housing current employees and in future additional employees, is well underway. Founded on energy star building improvements, the corporate headquarters’ interior will radiate a refreshed and environmentally-conscious atmosphere to further attract, retain and develop talent.

“Farm Bureau Insurance is proud to partner with the MEDC and LEAP,” said Farm Bureau Insurance CEO Don Simon. “Investing in training and creating quality jobs in Michigan benefits everyone—our industry, employees and potential employees, and our state’s future.”

“Our region is a leading insurance hub and we took another important step forward today in solidifying our standing as a national insurance hub,” said LEAP president and CEO, Bob Trezise. “On the heels of Farm Bureau Insurance’s successful partnership with LEAP’s PROTO Accelerator InsurTech program, which is bringing cutting edge technology into their business operations, Michigan Farm Bureau is continuing to lead change in the insurance industry—this time through new, high quality jobs and renovations. LEAP, MEDC, Lansing Community College, Delta Township and Michigan Farm Bureau worked hard to ensure the insurance industry is modernizing, innovating and growing in the Lansing, Michigan region.”

Michigan Farm Bureau Family of Companies has a rich history of assisting Michigan residents in a wide range of needs spanning from agriculture, to advocacy, to insurance and financial services. To better deliver the best user experience with recently upgraded systems, the company looks to add 69 competitively paid jobs over the next three years in technical, customer service, actuarial and agricultural functioning roles, such as the growth of its Great Lakes Ag and Labor Services (GLALS) efforts.

MEDC approved a $241,500 Business Development Program (BDP) performance-based grant to assist Michigan Farm Bureau in its job growth and training needs, fostering these new and advanced skillsets.

“Farm Bureau’s continued commitment to Lansing means good jobs for Michigan residents, and further builds on the state’s and the Lansing region’s strength as a leading location for insurance job growth,” said Jeff Mason, CEO of MEDC, the state’s chief marketing and business attraction agency, responsible for enabling long-term economic opportunity for all Michiganders. “We’re pleased to work with LEAP and support this investment, and we look forward to working with Farm Bureau as it continues its long tradition of growing and adding jobs in Michigan,” Mason said.

“We are thrilled to have Michigan Farm Bureau Insurance expanding in Delta Township. With this substantial investment in the existing building and addition of quality future focused jobs, our community will benefit greatly,” said Delta Township Supervisor Kenneth R. Fletcher. “We couldn’t be more excited to have this leading insurance industry company growing right here in Delta Township.”
